Venue Amenities
Accessibility
There is no designated accessible parking available at the playground.Â
The activity area is a grass field so caution is recommended for people with mobility issues.
The main field can be accessed via a fence opening fronting on Lasalle Boulevard and to the side of the old Place Hurtubise fieldhouse with the 3 grey doors. Caution as the paved area in front of this old fieldhouse is broken up and not maintained. The field can also be accessed via fence openings within the Place Hurtubise housing complex.
Motor Vehicle and Bicycle Parking
There is no motor vehicle or bicycle parking available on site. Motor vehicle parking is available on local side streets. Visitors can bring their bikes in with them to the park. Please bring a lock to lock your bike.Â
Active Transportation and Transit
Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or take transit to the event.
Transit access is available via the Main Line connection to Route 20 Graywood / Madison Local, which travels on a loop to/from the New Sudbury Centre. See the Schedule and Map. The playground is on the north side of Lasalle, so the closest and safest stop coming from the New Sudbury Centre is 7030 at the intersection of Lasalle and Lansing (by Food Basics) where there is a signaled crossing.
All City of Greater Sudbury buses have bike racks for 2 bikes, and a bicycle may be transported on-board a bus at the driver’s discretion.
Some active transportation routes are available in the City for those wanting to bike to the event. See the City’s Recreation Map.
Waste Management – Working Towards Net Zero
We want to be environmentally-friendly, so there will be a recycling (blue) and a composting (green) bin available by the food tent. Please help us get as close as possible to a zero waste event by using these bins and ensuring that you deposit your waste items in the correct bins. Signs will be posted and you can ask a volunteer for help if needed.Â
Volunteers will be sorting the bins after the event as we will be charged a processing fee if any of the bins are contaminated. Please make our job easy by choosing the right bin!
We will serve food on paper napkins to minimize the garbage generated by the event. Place all used napkins in the compost bins.
Please note that dog waste is not permitted in City garbage bins. Please pick up your dog poop and bring it home for disposal.
Food and Hydration
Picnic tables, tables and chairs, and limited tents are available for eating.Â
We are serving pizza from Great Lakes Pizza and Shawarma from wraps Damascus at the food tent as long as the food lasts. There are no vegan options but limited vegetarian pizza will be available. Bottled water will also be available.Â
We encourage you to bring your own water bottles. There is a water fountain at the park.
First Aid and Security
The First Aid Station is located at the food tent. A first aid kit is available for minor injuries and a volunteer with First Aid certification is available on site. Please ask a volunteer to call the First Aid responder if you need help. For a serious injury, please call 911 immediately. We do not have a defibrillator on site.
Volunteers will be monitoring for any unwanted behaviours. If you need help or to report inappropriate behaviour, please come to the food tent.
The lost child station is also at food tent.
Other Amenities
